Gleeで知った歌ですが、しっかり聴くとついつい泣いてしまいます。
別に信心深いわけではないのですが。
神様を信じているところの人が歌っているからでしょうかね。
"God is great, God is good" 食前に捧げる神への祈りでも口にするキリスト教の一般的な祈りですが、この歌の主人公はそう教えられてきて、今までそう信じてきたけど、今は懐疑的な心であるように感じます。
だから、もし神様がそんな偉大な人ではなくて、自分たちと変わらない只人だとしたら？と考えているのではないかなと。
信仰の心とそれへの懐疑心で板挟みになり、"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (そうよ、そうなのよ)" と無理矢理でも自分を納得させようとしているように私には聞こえます。
そして、通常家に帰るのは try to make するほど難しい事ではないと思うので、きっと home と言いながら、それは「救い」や「愛」を指しているのではないかなと思った次第で、以下のような和訳になりました。
